COVID-19 lockdown improves air quality in Morocco

Several measures have been taken to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, almost all non-essential activities in Morocco halted since March 20, 2020. From that date, announced lockdown for one month and it was extended until June 10, The main objective paper is study on air quality, by analyzing dust PM2.5, NO2, O3. PM2.5 analysis carried out from 2016 NO2 O3 2019 This study, which based satellite data TROPOMI Sentinel 5P MERRA, has shown experienced an improvement quality during lockdown. A significant reduction surface tropospheric observed (-10%, -4%, respectively average). total column ozone recorded a slight increase average around 1%. Moreover, we demonstrate part particulate pollution emissions are incoming mainly northern northern-eastern borders Morocco.
